The Academy is thrilled and proud to bring you the latest book written by one of our faculty – Sarah Sassoon! Sarah has just published Shoham’s Bangle, a children’s picture book about a young Iraqi-Jewish girl whose life is suddenly turned upside down when her family has to leave and immigrate to Israel with only one suitcase. It is based on Sarah’s memories of her grandmother’s bangles that jangled as she rolled b’ab’eb’ tamar dough and shared the family’s history.
Join us for an inside-the-story chat and book launch with Sarah, on the 30th of November, in honour of Sephardic Refugee Day, which marks the departure and expulsion of Jews from the Middle East and North Africa.
