More than Apple & Honey: The Rosh Hashana Seder

I’m excited to be presenting Iraqi Jewish food customs – simanim for the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah with Harif on Tuesday, 17th of September. I will be sharing my grandmother’s special apple jam recipe along with Sarina Roffe and Fabienne Viner-Luzzato who will share a Syrian Jewish seder and Tunisian seder. Details below, and register here.

Tuesday 17 September 2024, 7:30 pm UK, 9:30pm Israel, 2:30 pm ET.

Your Rosh Hashana ritual dinner need not be limited to apple and honey!

Sephardim mark Rosh Hashana with a rich variety of different foods — a Seder, in fact! They are called Simanim, and a blessing is recited over each one. As we approach Rosh Hashana 2024, Harif has invited three accomplished cooks to tell us what their specific traditions are for Rosh Hashana: Sarina Roffe will describe a Syrian seder, Fabienne Viner-Luzzato, a Tunisian one and Sarah Sassoon will talk about
Iraqi customs. All will be sharing a particular dish that they like to prepare for the occasion.
